Atagoyama(Mt.Atago) has Atago Jinja(Atago Shrine),whose Gods are believed to prevent believers from setting their houses ablaze,on the top of it.
This mountain stands on the western edge of Kyôto City.
It's slightly over 900 meters above sea level, but very upper on the list of mountains in Kyôto prefecture.
Indeed,of 47 prefectures in Japan,Kyôto prefecture is the only one but Okinawa, southernwest archipelago, not to have any points 1,000 meters high and above within its area.

MEMO
One of the most popular courses to climb Mt.Atago is supposed to start from Kiyotaki,on the eastern skirts of the mountain,go to the top,top off and go down to Mizunoo,on the southwestern skirts of it(Mizunoo is pronounced like 'mee-zoo-noh-oh').
To get to Kiyotaki,Kyoto Bus(a private bus company, not to confuse with Kyoto Citybus,a public service) is available(Bus No.62 or 72),though they run not so frequently. However,Mizunoo doesn't have any bus stop nor train station nearby.
Not so high it is,it's rather steep,so climbing it can be more than a hiking.
So never try to climb it up without a scrupulous plan and a careful preparation in advance,as you try to climb other mountains up.
Down on Mizunoo, you might be eble to enjoy having a torisuki(chiken sukiyaki) with your companies and soaking in the bath,in which some yuzus(a kind of citron) are cast for adding a flavor.
These are served by Mizunoo neighborhood residents, though reserving in advance and outnumbering the minimum seats per reservation are required.
But unfortunately,I haven't enjoyed that yet...
